PledPharma AB develops new pharmaceutical applications within supportive care based on the clinically approved PLED-derivative mangafodipir with an initial candidate, PP-095, for oncology. PP-095 entered Clinical Phase II trials in 2008. PLED-derivatives are low molecular weight enzyme mimetics (LowMEMs) with SOD mimetic activity. PLED-derivatives protect healthy cells during cancer therapy with cytostatic drugs and/or radiation, without diminishing the anticancer efficacy. When used during cancer therapy, it has the potential to improve both the clinical outcome and patient well-being. In addition to cancer treatment, LowMEMs have a wide range of potential indications, e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke and neurodegenerative diseases.
PledPharma AB is majority owned by Accelerator Nordic AB (publ).
